Banned and Challenged Books This course looks at the history of banning and challenging books - from the early 1500's the present The What -Why - How - When - and Where of banning and challenging books is examined using the two textbooks and the United States Bill of Rights, U.S. Supreme Court cases and lower court case law. Controversy surrounding the banning and challenging of books under Political, Religious, Sexual, and Social grounds is examined and debated. Banning and challenging books in other countries will be probed and discussed as well.
